AANZPA Community Network
About the Community Network
AANZPA acknowledges that some psychodrama trainees who are Associate members choose not to continue their formal training in the psychodrama method. This means they no longer qualify for Associate membership. In recognition of their desire to remain connected to the psychodrama community and its methodology, AANZPA has established the Community Network. This Network provides a means for these people to sustain their connection with AANZPA.
Engaging with the Community Network reflects a continued valuing of psychodrama and the relationships developed through AANZPA. The Community Network supports connections through regional gatherings, conferences and the AANZPA website.
Being part of the Community Network does not constitute AANZPA membership. Consequently, the AANZPA Ethics Committee does not have jurisdiction over their practice. While AANZPA encourages adherence to the AANZPA Code of Ethics, people in the Community Network must not present themselves as current practising AANZPA members.

Joining and Transitioning
I am a current AANZPA Affiliate. What do I need to do on the changeover date of July 1st, 2025?

Who is eligible to join the AANZPA Community Network?
The AANZPA Community Network is for people who have previously been AANZPA Associate Members training with an AANZPA-accredited Training Institute and are no longer actively training.
I am an Associate Member who has stopped training during the financial year. What happens to my membership of AANZPA?
If you are no longer in training, you are not eligible for Associate Membership and you will be invited to join the Community Network for the remainder of the financial year.
Why was the Community Network established?
The Community Network was established in 2025 to provide a way for people who were previously AANZPA Associate Members to maintain their connection with the psychodrama community and AANZPA, when they are no longer actively engaged in formal training.
If I begin training again, how do I move from the Community Network to Associate Membership?
To be eligible for AANZPA Associate Membership, you need a current Training Plan with an AANZPA-accredited Training Campus. Once you have a Training Plan, you can apply for Associate Membership using the designated application form.

If I have concerns about the ethical practice of a Community Network participant, who should I contact?
As participants in the Community Network are not AANZPA members, their practice falls outside the scope of the AANZPA Ethics Committee. Talk to the participant directly or the professional organisation who has ethical oversight.
Membership and Governance
Is the Community Network a type of AANZPA Membership?
No, the Community Network is not a membership category within AANZPA. It is a way for former Associate Members to maintain a connection with the organisation and the psychodrama community.
Can I promote myself as an AANZPA member if I am in the Community Network?
No. Individuals in the Community Network may continue to utilise psychodrama techniques in their professional practice. However, as a participant in the Community Network, you are not an AANZPA member, therefore, your practice is not covered by the AANZPA Code of Ethics. While AANZPA hopes you will be guided by the Code of Ethics, you must not present yourself as an AANZPA member.
What is the difference between being an AANZPA Associate Member and being part of the Community Network?
Associate Members are actively engaged in training with an AANZPA-accredited Training Institute, are subject to the AANZPA Code of Ethics and have voting rights at their Regional meetings. Participants in the Community Network are not actively training, and their practice is not covered by the AANZPA Code of Ethics.
Can I be an Office Holder in a Region when in the Community Network?
No. Only current AANZPA Members are eligible to hold office or vote at Regional meetings. Participation in the Community Network does not confer these rights.
Can I vote at Regional meetings or the AANZPA AGM?
No. Only Ordinary and Distinguished members can vote at the AANZPA AGM which is held at the end of the annual Conference.
Does the Community Network have its own governance or structure?
The Community Network operates under the umbrella of AANZPA but does not have its own separate governance structure. Your involvement will be through your AANZPA Region.
