The Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Psychodrama Association
Welcome to the website of AANZPA, the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Psychodrama Association.
AANZPA is an Association of over 300 psychodrama practitioners and trainees from Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, and some members from further afield. Our membership includes people from many different spheres of work, including (but not limited to) counsellors, psychotherapists, educators, and organisational development consultants who are using the psychodrama method in their work and lives.
Our aim is to promote the philosophy, values and methods of psychodrama created by J. L. Moreno, and developed since then by practitioners throughout the world.
AANZPA provides a community of practitioners who support, encourage and stimulate one another.
We are committed to supporting bicultural and multicultural development within AANZPA. As an Association we work across two countries in partnership with each other to honour and progress this work.
AANZPA regional groups meet throughout Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Our annual conferences, usually held in January, are lively gatherings where we meet for professional development and to engage with one another. The AANZPA Journal, published yearly, provides a forum for authors to present applications and new developments of the psychodrama method and is a great addition to any professional's library.
AANZPA accredits practitioners according to the standards developed by the Board of Examiners. Training in psychodrama is provided by a number of independent Training Institutes which train to the high standard set by the Association and the Board. These training institutes are independent entities separate from AANZPA, but accountable to it through the accreditation process.
AANZPA is a founding member of PACFA, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, and our practitioner accreditation is recognised by the Psychotherapy Board of Aotearoa New Zealand.
You will find information about all of these things in this site.
If you are interested in finding out more about AANZPA, and about psychodrama as it is practised in our region, we hope you will find what you are looking for in these pages. Or Contact us through the contact form.
