Skills development for dating in the modern world – all genders welcome

From a very young age we have been instructed to form enduring rich and productive relationships with other folks that are meant to last the entirety of our lives. Mostly called getting married.

And the only instructions we have received have come from the TV shows we watched, the movies we saw, or the books we read. That instruction was usually supplied to us in an implied form - the way the romantic lead operated, the way one person rejected another, the way men's and women's groups viewed each other. however these were not documentaries. These were all, every last one of them, the product of the vivid imaginations of authors, script writers, screen writers, comedians, and others who's sole purpose was our entertainment, engagement, advertising of their own world view, displaying their own good bad or indifferent experiences of life. In other words total nonsense that only had to make sense according to the writers.

We were taught that men should pursue women. That women like flowers. That all women are romantic. We were taught what romantic meant. We were taught about 'the heart', about 'love', and 'intimacy'. All of it the fevered dreams of simple people most of whom knew little to nothing about any of these matters having come to their conclusions reading and viewing the same material we have.

In this workshop we will explore some of these areas and consider together whether we really know anything at all. This will lead to a useful exploration of roles and ways of functioning that will assist us all to progress in our relating to others. Using action methods and psychodrama we will attempt to playfully expand on how we view the areas of dating, intimacy, relationships, living together, the madness of others and ourselves, and determine our educational deficiencies. From there we can at least plan ways forward to make up for the appalling lack of education and the ridiculous mis-education we have all received.

This workshop is not designed to fix you but to help you develop a map of where you are now, where you might want to go, and how to get there with particular focus on roadblocks and chasms, and avoidable dangers. No magic fixes, no tricks, no gimmicks.

There will be like minded folks who are interested to learn. So come and learn from other people’s stories and contribute your own as well.

There are some basic counter intuitive ideas that will also be imparted that will help you enormously so that you leave with clarity and direction.
