The World We Create
An experiential workshop for people who care and want to contribute to safer, healthier and more connected relationships, groups, workplaces and communities.
Hosted by Psychodrama NSW/ACT AANZPA Regional Committee
What kind of world are we creating through the ways we relate, respond to conflict and navigate power in everyday life?
The World We Create is an invitation to explore our patterns, choices and capacity to contribute to positive change, beginning with our everyday relationships.
We will begin with experiential activities drawing on Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) approaches to conflict transformation. Through experiences of affirmation, listening, communication and cooperation, we will build connections and a foundation for working together.
In the second part, we will use psychodrama to explore experiences and questions from participants’ lives, guided by themes that emerge through our work together. These may include responding to conflict, navigating strong emotions and power, and challenges in our relationships.
Together, we will work towards a supportive, non-judgemental space where participants can reflect, experiment and discover possibilities for responding. The direction will develop through what participants bring and what emerges together.
Taking a strengths-based approach, we will look for the capacities already present within ourselves, our relationships and our groups: care, courage, empathy, honesty, creativity and the ability to make new choices.
The workshop welcomes people of all genders, cultural backgrounds and abilities. It offers space to learn through experience, connect with others and explore our response-ability: our capacity to respond with awareness, care and choice.
We believe change happens in relationship and community. The world we want to live in is also shaped by how we relate and act in the here and now.
The workshop will be run by Dimitrios Papalexis & Shanaz Razeen.
Shanaz will facilitate an activity in the first part of the workshop, drawing on his Alternatives to Violence Project training and its approach to conflict transformation. Dimitrios will hold overall group leadership and lead the psychodramatic component of the workshop.
